If you’re a woman who’s pregnant living in or around Waco, Texas, you may have had an ultrasound in order to see your child’s progress. If you’re a first-timer however, it can be hard to know what the process will look like. Here are some things that happen during an ultrasound and what they mean for you and your baby.
In this post, we’ll discuss the following:
how ultrasounds work
what happens at an appointment with a technician (ultrasound tech)
What to expect with Tiny Hearts Imagery
How Ultrasounds Work
Ultrasound machines are used to produce high-frequency sound waves, which bounce off the tissues and structures inside your body like an echo or reflection of a sound wave bouncing off a building. The ultrasound machine converts this information into electronic signals that can be captured on an external monitor by computer.
What that means for you and your baby is that you get a beautiful image of your baby, even before he or she is born. In many cases, you can even see an image of your baby’s face!
What Happens at an Appointment with an Ultrasound Technician
Most pregnant women have an ultrasound technician appointment at least once during their pregnancy. This is a common time for parents to find out the gender of the baby or even see their little one moving around in the womb.
When you come in, we’ll have you get comfortable. Our technicians are trained professionals and their job is to make sure you’re as relaxed as possible.
Once we get started, the technician will try to determine the sex of the baby (and they will or will not tell you, based on your preference).
The process is usually pretty fast. Ultrasound appointments can take anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour depending on what needs to be done.
